Denmark street community centre - working with the community
Located in the lower shankill area of belfast, denmark street community centre has been operating as a voluntary community facility for nearly 40 years.
the centre is run by denmark st community association, a community group made up entirely of volunteers. the group has no paid staff.
a core group of volunteers makes up the management committee of the centre, with the additional volunteers helping out with specific activities and projects, for example the annual summer scheme.
in 2006 belfast city council stepped in and began the process of takeing on the ownership of the buliding
in 2008 the centre was reopened by social development minister margaret ritchie and with takeing on the ownership of denmark street community centre four new trustees were identified - chris mcGimpsey, sam drake, sadie drake, sam hamilton.
denmark st c.c is surpporting the council to achieve its objectives in terms of children & young people, good relations and securing the future.
